Weekly training updates
Just got back from circuit training. It was more difficult than I imagined. I was generally left in the dust created by several pensioners using their zimmer frames. Some work needed here I think.
I’m going to keep a weekly round up of exercise. I may also keep private records of calories in, if I can manage to be bothered. At the moment it’s a bit haywire with remaining birthday food.
I am now one year off the big 40. It is my goal to weigh in at a respectable weight by the time I next have a birthday.
Last week I lost three pounds. I didn’t really cut back on the food, but I did increase exercise amounts considerably. I am aiming for three hours per day (it’s around 1.5 – 2 at the moment).
A further reason for going for it is that I’m cycling 540 miles (or perhaps more) for the tower2tower challenge at the end of May. I’ve also signed up for the Berlin marathon at the end of September.
A marathon in particular will be very difficult. I am SHIT at running.
I’ll add the training hours to a separate page named Weekly Updates and update it on a weekly basis. See what I did there? Clever eh.
One thing I’ve realised is that I need to plan out what to do the day before. My largest challenge is getting out of bed at a reasonable time. I operate better later, so prefer to keep later hours, which screws up any hope of a nice 6am start. I went to do some Confluence theme work for Adaptavist in Portugal before Christmas and decided that I am by nature Portuguese. They start and finish work later. It’s not that I’m lazy, I was just born into the wrong culture. Apart from the emotional expressiveness of course! In that respect I’m wholly British.
Go Emma. Exercise really is the key. I find it much easier to exercise if I make a plan too, I can’t stress how satisfying keeping a record really is either.
keep going, keep it up and don’t be afraid to ask. I’ll be rooting for ya.
That’s a fair few challenges Em, fair play to you and bloody good luck!.
I’m and early riser and an early to bed type of person. If I’m up around 0800hrs it’s a lie in and I feel I’ve wasted half the day! Not that the Spawn of Satan let’s us lie in ’til 0800hrs…
I really wish I could wake up early. I wonder why some of us are and others aren’t? Is it b/c of being in the army do you think? I can do 6am, but by 10pm I’m horribly tired.
3 hours a day, wow!
My girlfriend is also doing the tower to tower ride.
This is something I would love to do aswell but there’s no chance I can raise the sort of sponsorship needed
When is she doing the t2t ride? I need to get arse in gear re. sponsorship.
A marathon? Are you mad? I’m resisting the urge to do the “snickers in one go” joke. Go you!
Great idea tracking the weekly achievements, nice way to look back on how far you’ll have come. – if that isn’t mixing up the tenses beyond recognition.
Keep going!
Yes, I am. Considering how I can’t run very well right now. I’m not sure about the Great Manchester run now as it’s just before the tower2tower and I don’t know if I might be at risk of injury.
I
Three hours a day, you will be uber fit!
SOunds like a couple of fun events there. I love being able to say I ran a marathon even if it was really slow! I am not a runner either! I find running great for weight loss/getting fit!
How long did it take you to do the marathon? Did you start training from no running experience? There’s no way I’ll be fast unless I uncover some secret talent I was previously unaware of. Which is unlikely. I used to run, but slowly and only for an hour. And I was about 6 stone lighter.
I need to drop some more weight before really going for the marathon stuff as otherwise I’ll hurt myself. Ideally I’d like an anti-gravity trainer, like the pros use after injury. I don’t understand why I can’t have one.
