I thought I’d use my first entry to talk about an experience I recently had with sultanas. My Granny heard from a friend that if you put sultanas in your cheeks (just one in each facial cheek mind), you wake up with a refreshed, liquid filled mouth. She has taken to this and inserts one in each facial cheek every night. I have a couple of doubts about this process. Firstly, the natural sugar in dried fruit will surely be bad for your teeth. Secondly, the chemicals on the sultanas won’t be good for your mouth. This week however, I had a cold and I thought I’d give it a go as a means of avoiding the dry mouth problem that is made worse by a cold. As a one-off I felt it was no risk to my oral hygiene. Unfortunately it didn’t work. I woke up with a dry mouth with no sultanas inside. I’d eaten them. Tonight I am going to do the same with a malteser.
